In its sixth year of rocking the pants off of Lismore (literally AND figuratively), Mazstock returns to the Lismore Bowlo. Sixteen ball-tearing bands will invade the precinct with a cavalcade of independent rock that hasn’t been seen since, well, last year. Brisbane’s unstoppable rock paragons HITS return to the fray, with their mighty new album Hikikomori gobsmacking the entire country and sell-out shows in their wake across the East Coast. Fellow Queenslanders Six Ft Hick are also jumping the border just in time to escape the reinvigorated Fitzgerald Commission, ahead of a pack of rock rats from FAT, the Dirty F-Holes, Ironside and Public Execution. From Sydney, Hell Crab City are making the long haul north, while the local derby will be fought between our own rock apes World War XXXIV, Substation, 6th Floor, Protestors Fall, Birdbrain, Lonny and of course Nimbin’s ferocious Antibodies, the only band to have played every Mazstock. And fresh from being booted out of the Espy for being too punk-rock, co-promoter James S Doyle takes the stage with Raygun Mortlock, Murwillumbah’s most obnoxious punk-rock machine.. This magnificent one-day onslaught, named after the town’s matron of rock, Maz, has been putting Lismore on the rock’n’roll map since the aforesaid rock maven teamed up with indefagitable impresario Sideshow six years ago and first started blowing everyone’s brains out with such acts as Kim Salmon, the New Christs, the Celibate Rifles, Leadfinger, The Re-Mains, Brut 66 and Screamin’ Stevie’s Australia.
